One of the most charismatic and famous musicians of Ukraine Svyatoslav Vakarchuk was born on May 14, 1975 in the town of Mukachevo. From an early age, the son of the future Minister of Education, as well as the rector of the Lviv National University, led a very active lifestyle: a school with an English bias, KVN, a theater club, a music school, basketball.
Svyatoslav received his higher education in a physical specialty at the same Lviv University. The musician also has a degree in economics. In the mid-1990s, Svyatoslav became a graduate student in theoretical physics and even defended his Ph.D.
Vakarchuk's musical career began in 1994, when his band Okean Elzy saw the world. In this collective, the role of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is a vocalist, songwriter, musician and, of course, a real leader, without whom the group would not have lasted long. The first album "There, de us is mute" made a splash in the Ukrainian musical space. The rest of the records enjoyed no less success. Svyatoslav is also the author of the solo album "Vnochi" and the project "Brussels", where he sang along with Sergei Babkin, Peter Chernyavsky, Dima Shurov and others. And the concert program on the album "Dolce Vita" was heard by residents of Asia, Europe and even the USA.
The musician has a very strong civil position. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk played the main roles in the political life of Ukraine. At one time he actively supported the "Orange Revolution", later - was a member of the Euromaidan. But with work in the Verkhovna Rada, Svyatoslav did not work out. In 2008, without having worked for a year as a people's deputy, the musician refused such powers.
Today Svyatoslav is an honorary citizen of Lviv, a successful musician and an influential civic leader. He is involved in charity work and is also the producer of the young singer Christina Soloviy.
