Before joining the cinema, he worked in the laboratory of heuristics at the Research Institute of Psychology.
Graduated from the directing department of VGIK. His diploma work was the adaptation of the fragment "The Master and Margarita". The half-hour film stars Oleg Tabakov (Stepan Likhodeev and Azazello), Gleb Strizhenov (Koroviev), Viktor Yushin (Begemot the cat), Irakli Kiknadze (Woland).
He worked on pre-graduation practice on Eldar Ryazanov's film "Office Romance", after which he became the "prototype" of one of the characters in "Garage" (the character of Georgy Burkov - Vitaly Fetisov).
In 1981 he directed the comedy "All the way around" (the picture took 4th place in the collection).
In 1985 he shot the first domestic video film, i.e. film, intended for replication only on videocassettes - "Very probable video adventures". This 20-minute film played a presentation role for domestic video distribution and received a bronze medal at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements.
In 1986 he shot the first Russian full-length video film - the musical fantasy "I Believe in the Rainbow", where Valentina Tolkunova played the main role (sang). This film was also intended only for replication on videotapes, but soon it began to be shown on various TV channels.
In 1989 he made for television a two-part film "Seven Days of Hope", where Irina Rozanova played her first major role.
Since the early nineties, when film distribution collapsed, he switched to television short films, in particular on the topic of psychology.
