Born on November 24, 1934 at the Borzya station of the Chita region.
In 1956 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School.
He worked at the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, in 1957-1971 - an actor and director of the Sovremennik Theater, since 1971 - in the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater named after M. Gorky (since 1989 - named after A.P. Chekhov).
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1970).
People's Artist of the RSFSR (1989).
