Petr Galadzhev was born on December 28, 1900 in the Old Crimea. At the age of nine he entered the Imperial Art and Industry Stroganov School, studied at the graphic faculty at VKHUTEMAS, then at the studio of the Artistic and Educational Union of Workers' Organizations under the leadership of F.F. Komissarzhevsky, and, finally, at the State College of Cinematography under the leadership of L.V. Kuleshova.
While still a student, Galadzhev began working as an assistant decorator at the Opera S.I. Zimin. His passion for theater was soon added to a real passion for cinema. Petr Galadzhev dabbled in cinema as an assistant, director, production designer, actor, making his debut as a Bolshevik judge in Lev Kuleshov's The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Country of the Bolsheviks. He worked as an artist for Alexander Row in "Kashchee Immortal", for Victor Eisymont in the "Cruiser Varyag". During his work in cinema, Petr Galadzhev starred in 36 films, designed more than 50 films, shot three films as a director.
Graduated from the Vkhutemas art-industrial school (1920), the acting department of the State Customs Committee (1925, workshop of L. Kuleshov).
From 1940 he worked as an artist at the Soyuzdetfilm film studio, and later at the M. Gorky film studio.
The daughter of Pyotr Galadzhev, Natalia, is a film critic.
