Alexander Vertinsky was born in Kiev on March 21, 1889. His father, a private attorney, and his mother, a noblewoman, were not painted. After the war, Vertinsky was actively filming and touring. The last concert took place on May 21, 1957. On the same night, the heart of the genius stopped at the Astoria Hotel.

Alexander Vertinsky was married twice: to Rachel Pototskaya and actress Lydia Tsirgvava. From the second union, daughters were born who became actresses, Marina and Anastasia (the first wife of N. Mikhalkov).
