Graduated from the theater school named after B.V. Shchukin (1969), directing department of higher theater courses at GITIS (1977, workshop of A.A. Goncharov).
He worked as an actor and director in theaters in Moscow and Novgorod. He starred in more than forty films, screenwriter, director.
Since 1996 - Deputy Director for Production at the Gorky Film Studio.
Honored Artist of Russia (1999).
