Born on August 9, 1931 in Voronezh. After the war, the family moved to Moscow. And since then Anatoly Stepanov fell in love with her forever. In all his novels and scripts, the main character is Moscow - its courtyards and old streets, its indigenous inhabitants, its unique force and special Moscow humor fill all of his works. In 1955 Stepanov graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, though not the screenwriting department, but the film studies department. After Stalin's death, Ivan Pyriev resolutely took a course towards creative rejuvenation of the studio and began to recruit new personnel to his team at Mosfilm. Thus, three young graduates and bosom friends ended up in the editorial department: German Groshev, Anatoly Stepanov and Leonid Nekhoroshev - these names are now well known to all Mosfilm workers. For more than thirty years Stepanov worked at Mosfilm as editor and even chief editor of one of the creative associations. His surname can be seen in the credits of The Diamond Hand and Prisoner of the Caucasus. But before, the editor was not just a service figure - apart from editing the script itself, such a person was actively involved in directing and editing the film, it was truly creative and interesting work. Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. VGIK teacher, original teacher. Since 1989, the head of the full-time film drama workshop Anatoly Stepanov, together with Natalya Anatolyevna Fokina, has already graduated four courses for screenwriters and in 2007 he recruited a new course. Among its alumni are Katya Shagalova (Mindadze), Arkady Prikhodchenko, Milana Kasakina, Dmitry Ivanov (IV), Nastya Volkova, Tanya Artseulova, Olga Sanina, Olga Elagina and others.
