Born April 18, 1947 in Krakow, Poland.
In 1972 he graduated from the Krakow State Higher Theater School, after which until 1991 he worked at the Old Theater in Krakow. Stuhr is the recipient of prestigious awards for performing both theatrical and film roles. In the 80s he performed in Italy, and for his excellent knowledge of the Italian language and the quality of interpretation in 1982 he received a critics award for his work as a foreign actor in Italy. He teaches at the Krakow State Higher Theater School, where he was rector in 1991-1996.
Since 1998 Jerzy Stuhr has been a member of the European Film Academy.
