People's Artist of the USSR and Ukraine Konstantin Stepankov was born on June 3, 1928 in the small village of Pecheski, Khmelnytsky region, Ukraine. During the revolution, the actor's father, a priest, was shot, and Stepan Petrovich for a long time did not tell anything about the sad fate of his family. As a ten-year-old boy, after the death of his mother, he ends up in an orphanage, and after graduating from school, he enters the Agricultural Institute. Already in his institute years, Stepankov was drawn to creativity, he organizes a music and drama circle and performed with amateur concerts with comrades. Once their performance was seen by Ambrose Buchma, the famous director of the Ivan Franko Academic Theater. He liked Stepankov's play so much that he invited him to his course at the theater institute, and two months later Konstantin Stepankov went to Kiev to take exams. After graduating from the institute, he played at the Ivan Frank Theater and was a teacher and head of the acting department at the Karpenko-Kary Institute.
