Born June 20, 1954 in a village near Kharkov.
In 1978, after graduating from the A.V. Lunacharsky GITIS, he was admitted to the troupe of the Moscow Drama Theater. M.N. Ermolova.
From November 1980 to the present, he is an artist of the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. The first years of work in the theater and the roles played in the performances of A. V. Efros, A. L. Dunaev and other directors, put Shabaltas I. M. among the leading actors of the theater. For a quarter of a century, he has played more than 70 roles of the classical and modern repertoire.
Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1996).
