Born on July 9, 1924 in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk Region. Dozens of young actors auditioned for the role of Oleg Koshevoy. As a result, Vladimir Ivanov played the leader of the Young Guard. - The scariest scene in the film is the execution of the Young Guard. It was filmed for four nights. It was really scary! - recalls Klara Luchko, who played the role of Marina's aunt in the film. - It was deep autumn, it was very cold. In Krasnodon, a pit has been preserved where the guys were dumped. Thousands of people came to this shooting from all the neighborhoods. Several ambulances arrived. Bonfires were burning. When Volodya Ivanov - Oleg Koshevoy made a speech, the locals did not just cry: they sobbed. The parents of the deceased children fainted.
The work of Alexander Fadeev was included in the compulsory literature curriculum of all educational institutions of the USSR. And although Fadeev always said that one cannot compare a real story with a literary work, his novel was perceived as truth. Everything that was associated with the Young Guard was sacred. A person who had even a small relation to this organization immediately became trustworthy to the authorities. So, in the archives of the Museum "Young Guard" there is a recommendation to the party written by the grandmother of Oleg Koshevoy, Vera Vasilyevna Korastyleva, a member of the CPSU (b) since 1929, Vladimir Ivanov. This was enough for the actor to be immediately accepted into the party. - The starring role of Vladimir Ivanov played a cruel joke on him. For viewers and directors, he will forever remain an actor in one role. He was perceived only as Oleg Koshevoy, - Luchko recalls. - After the release of "Young Guard" he starred in only a few films, all of his roles were subtle. As a result, he devoted his entire further life to the pop genre. Volodya toured the cities and villages of our country with concerts - he read excerpts from the novel by Fadeev.
He passed away on January 24, 1995 in Moscow.
