Honored Artist of the RSFSR Gennady Voropaev was born in Moscow in 1931. During the war, he was evacuated to Orenburg, where he first began acting, performing in hospitals with small sketches. In 1950, upon returning home, he entered the Shchepkin Theater School, and after graduation he was assigned to the Russian Theater in Vilnius, although Gennady Ivanovich worked in it for only a year.
In 1957 he moved to Leningrad and began to play on the stage of the Leningrad Youth Theater, where Voropaeva, who had already managed to perform countless roles, was noticed by the great Soviet director Nikolai Akimov. He was just looking for a young hero to stage the play The Story of a Girl, and Voropaev was the best fit for this role.
