Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (1963), VKSR (1972, workshop of A. Alov and V. Naumov).
He worked as an assistant director in the group of Shaken Aimanov. Director and screenwriter of documentary and feature films. Since 1982 - the head of the First Creative Association of the Gorky Film Studio, since 1987 - the artistic director of the creative association "TVK" (Television Cinema) of this studio, since 1995 - member of the Board of the Gorky Film Studio.
He passed away on February 21, 2012.
