Born on September 6, 1907 in the village of Terekhovka (Gomel district, Mogilev province, now Dobrush district of the Gomel region).
In 1928 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts.
Since 1929 - actor, since 1935 - director, in 1937-1943 - artistic director of the Yanka Kupala Belarusian Theater (Minsk) .
Honored Artist of the Byelorussian SSR.
People's Artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1946).
People's Artist of the USSR (10.24.1966) .
He passed away on March 9, 1986 in Minsk. The actor was buried at the Eastern (Moscow) cemetery in Minsk.
