Nonna Koperzhinskaya was born on May 1, 1920 in Kiev. When Nonna was 2 years old, a terrible thing happened - her father died. The actress's mother was a doctor. Together with her daughter, after a heavy loss, the family moved to live in Donbass, but after a while the elder Koperzhinskaya was offered a job in Kiev, and they return. After graduating from school, Nonna Kronidovna entered the acting department at the theater institute, where she studied with the People's Artist of the USSR - Ambrose Buchma. The young student was noticed already then by the well-known director Alexander Dovzhenko and suggested that the actress star in his film Shchors. Unfortunately, the beginning of the Second World War interrupted her studies at the institute, but after the end of hostilities Nonna Koperzhinskaya continued her studies and graduated from the institute with honors.
At the age of 26, the actress was accepted into the troupe of the Ivan Franko Kiev Theater, where Nonna worked until the end of her days. Friends on stage spoke very warmly about Koperzhinskaya. She was kind, perky and always in a good mood. Many found in Nonna similarities with the famous actress Faina Ranevskaya. On stage, Koperzhinskaya met her future husband, Pavel Shkreba, a theater director.
