Nikolay Grinko was born in 1920 in Ukraine in Kherson. Nikolai's parents were actors of a nomadic theater, the profession of which the boy dreamed of mastering from childhood.
At the age of twenty, Nikolai was mobilized to the front, served in the aviation maintenance unit, was a Komsomol organizer of the unit. After the war, Grinko worked as an assistant director, later as an actor in the theaters of Zaporozhye, Uzhgorod, the film studio of A.P. Dovzhenko. Filmed in Kiev very little, played only minor roles. They really started talking about Nikolai as a talented actor after Grinko moved to Moscow.
