Bomfunk MC's is a dance music group from Finland that performs electro combined with hip-hop. The group dates back to 1998. It was founded by Raymond Ebanks and Lappalayen Ismo. They began to receive recognition almost from the first compositions. Thus, their debut work, Uprocking Beats, was frequently shown on local radio charts. The same composition allowed Bomfunk MC's to listen online from the very first album, and thanks to it a contract was signed with Sony Music, with which the In Stereo album was recorded.
In 2000, the composition Freestyler, included in the debut album, won the first place in almost every radio chart in the country, and also took the leading position in the MTV hit parade, where they were named the best Scandinavian performers.
In 2002, their second album, Burnin 'Sneakers, was released. It included singles such as Live Your Life and Something Goin 'On (performed with singer Folker Jessica). But outside of his native Finland, this album did not receive a very loud success when compared with the previous one.
The band then decided to change their own label to Universal Music, with which the third album Reverse Psychology was released. Two songs from it were sung with the singer Elena Madi. These are Hypnotic and No Way in Hell, for which video clips were filmed. Bomfunk MC's videos for these songs could be watched on MTV in their music broadcast.
Not much is known about the group's activities now. Vile Makinen and DJ Infekto began to work separately from their band. They named their duo Bomfunk DJ's. BOW Ebanks Raymond has recorded a new album with a group called Mighty 44, as well as one track with the Uptown Rockers, called Everybody Dance. At the moment, he left the country indefinitely.
JS16, who served as music producer for Bomfunk MC's, is now busy promoting Kendi's new project, in which he became a DJ. Therefore, unfortunately, there is very little hope that Bomfunk MC's will someday unite again.
