Yuri Stepanov was born in June 1967 in the village of Ryssevo, located in the Irkutsk region of Russia. His mother was a school science teacher and his father was an agronomist. Yuri's father eventually took the position of director of the state farm and, since he was an even person, he did not profit from public expense. Thanks to this, Yura had the same childhood as everyone else, so he knew how to fish, hunt, dig potatoes, carpentry, build and much more. In general, his father was seriously involved in raising him.
In 1984 Yuri was able to enter the theater school, which is located in Irkutsk, without any problems. During his training, he worked as a tractor driver, bricklayer, carpenter and even an oil producer. Yuri's father did not have high hopes for this training, although he graduated very successfully. An admissions committee came from GITIS to Irkutsk, which offered him training at the acting department. So Yuri ended up in Moscow, where he began to study in the workshop of Pyotr Fomenko.
In 1993 his training ended. After graduation, his entire course became the basis of the theater troupe under the name "Workshop of Peter Fomenko". This was a huge achievement, because Yuri Stepanov has played various roles since the founding of this theater.
Since his student days, he has been assigned the role of a comedian. Craving for practical jokes and improvisation, the ability to exist on top of the text - that was his distinctive feature in acting. He was a born actor with a full figure and a charming face. Such an appearance of a good-natured clown made it difficult for people to immediately see that Yuri could also be cruel and merciless, ironic and lyrical. He knew how to laugh, while remaining serious, and bring to tears with just a helpless smile.
