Born on October 6, 1934 in Volnovakha, Stalin's region of the Ukrainian SSR.
After the war, he grew up in Balti (where he attended the drama club under the leadership of A.Ya. Bari at the city House of Pioneers) and in Chisinau. In 1952 he graduated from the Tambov Suvorov Military School.
In 1957 he graduated from VGIK (workshop of Julia Raizman).
Since 1958 he has been an actor at the Film Actor's Studio Theater.
While still a student at VGIK, he first appeared in films.
Husband of actress Izolda Izvitskaya.
He passed away in Moscow on July 18, 1984. The actor was buried at the 9th site of the Vostryakovsky cemetery.
