Born February 5, 1941 in Los Angeles, California, USA - American producer, screenwriter, actor and director.
After graduating from college, Stephen worked in the family business before selling his first script, It Takes a Thief (1968). Shortly thereafter, he was hired as a robot at Universal Studios, doing freelance screenwriting for television films such as Ironside and Columbo. After a while, he got the right to write his first complete script for the television film "Adam-12". Cannell has co-authored and co-wrote about 40 television series, including: The Rockford Files, The Greatest American Hero, The A-Team, Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street .
In the late 1980s, Cannell opened his studio in Vancouver.
In 2008, he was actively writing novels about detective Shane Scully, the eighth book in this series is planned for release in January 2009.
