Dixie Chicks is a famous female trio that was formed in 1989 in Dallas. The group is deservedly considered one of the most successful female musical groups in the world. As of June 2006, it is estimated that 36 million copies of their albums have been sold.

In the early 90s, Dixie Chicks was known only in a narrow circle of country fans. The girls sported cowboy outfits and used the traditional bluegrass sound of the time. But in 1998 they decided to radically change their image and become more modern. The popularity among a huge number of music lovers was not long in coming.

In the 2000s, the group was the only band to consistently rank in the top 10 on the Billboard rankings. Dixie Chicks peaked in popularity in early 2002 when an album called Home was released. The disc went platinum six times and sold fantastic copies all over the world.

In 2006, a biopic with Dixie Chicks called Shut Up and Sing is coming out. It tells about the consequences that awaited the collective after the resonant scandal, during which one of the soloists, Natalie Maines, during a concert from the stage, said that she was ashamed of being from the same state as Bush Jr. as he was the main initiator of the war in Iraq. This event led to threats to the lives of the members, as well as to condemnation by show business bosses and refusals of radio stations to broadcast their songs.

President Bush himself said that any US citizen has every right to freedom of speech, so he can say what he wants, but he doesn't care what Maines said then.

Despite the fact that the Dixie Chicks have not released any new albums for nine years, they remain the best female country band in the world with a huge army of fans who still love them.

In the course of the anti-Bush campaign and the US refusal to continue the Iraqi war, their position became very relevant, and the song Not Ready to Make Nice began to be considered the anthem of the country's freedom fighters. The compositions were brought to the Grammy team in all major nominations. The Dixie Chicks collection contains thirteen statuettes from this prestigious music award.

In 2010, a new project called Court Yard Hounds was launched, in which members of the band Robinson and Maguire released their own album without Natalie Mines participating in its recording. In 2013, the former member of the band Natalie Mines began her solo career.
