Graduated from the acting department of VGIK (1950, workshop of Boris Bibikov and Olga Pyzhova). He starred in several films, was an assistant director on the film "The First Echelon" and the second director on the film "The Tale of First Love" .
Tashkov's undoubted success was the film Come Tomorrow (1963), where he acted not only as a director, but also as a screenwriter.
Since 1957 - the director of the Odessa film studio, since 1967 - the director of the "Mosfilm" film studio. He was an actor in the Moscow Theater-Studio of a Film Actor, since 1983 he was the chief director of this theater.
