During the Great Patriotic War he served in the Navy, was wounded. Studied at the studio at the Alexandrinsky Theater, and then at the Leningrad Theater Institute under the People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Yuriev and People's Artist of the RSFSR Boris Zhukovsky. After graduation he worked in the theater, since 1967 - an actor at the Lenfilm studio.
