Born on June 15, 1941 in the village of Chortoryya (now Chernivtsi region of Ukraine) .
In 1957 he graduated from the Chernivtsi Musical College, in 1961 - the Studio Theater at the Chernivtsi Music and Drama Theater named after O. Kobylianska.
In 1965 - graduated from the film-acting faculty of the I.K.Karpenko-Kary State Institute of Theater Arts (workshop of V.I. Ivchenko) .
The roles of the young Taras Shevchenko in the film "Dream" and Ivan Paliychuk in "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" brought him universal recognition. In 1979 he managed to realize his old dream - to make the film "Babylon XX".
In 1983, "Fables about Ivan" were written, and in 1984 the director was preparing to work on a film based on this scenario, but the production of "Fables ..." was allowed only in the fall of 1986.
He died of cancer on August 3, 1987. He was buried at the Baikovo cemetery in Kiev.
