Caterina Murino was born in Cagliari (Sardinia) and originally wanted to become a doctor. In 1996 she took 4th place in the Miss Italy competition. After moving to London, she became interested in theater and acting, and set aside funds every week to watch something at the West End theater.
Returning to Italy, in 1999-2000 she studied drama at the School of Film and Theater under the direction of Francesca de Sapio. Then she appeared in the production of the play "Richard III", participated in the productions of plays in Italian.
