Born on March 25, 1940 in Leningrad.
Graduated from the acting faculty of LGITMiK (1961, course B. Zona), in 1968 - the All-Russian Radio and Television Commission at the USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
In 1961-1966 he was an actor of the Leningrad Comedy Theater, in 1968-1978 he was a director of the main editorial office of literary and dramatic programs of the Central Television, since 1978 he was a director of the Ekran television association. Has directed more than thirty television plays, including: "The Pickwick Club", "Doctor of Philosophy" and others. Since 1987 - director of the Mosfilm film studio .
People's Artist of Russia (1995).
