James McAvoy was born in 1979 in Scotland. After the divorce of his parents, he was brought up by his grandparents. In his youth he attended a Catholic school and for some time wanted to become a priest himself. Then he wanted to serve in the United Kingdom Military. But after meeting the director David Hayman, he chooses the acting profession.
