Katherine Heigl received a strict religious upbringing: her family professes the teachings of the Mormons. But when Katherine was 9 years old, her aunt used the girl's photo to advertise her hair care product. And later, her parents themselves sent several photos of their daughter to modeling agencies. Soon, Katherine was promoting the Cheerios breakfast cereal.
In 1986, tragedy struck the Heigl family: their older brother, Jason, died in a car accident. His parents donated his organs to save lives of other people. Now Heigl herself is a member of the Coalition on Donation, which supports the Organ and Tissue Donation program.
Career
In 1992, she starred in her first film, That Night. On the set, director Steven Soderberg noticed her. Since then, Heigl's popularity has grown. In 1994, Katherine at the casting for the film "My Father is a Hero" bypassed Alicia Silverstone.
