Jason was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended a Catholic school, although he was raised in his father's Jewish religion. Due to his high growth (1.93 m), he played on the basketball team in high school. Jason wanted to become an actor since childhood and during his school years he took part in local theater productions. Best known for his work with producer Judd Apatow, such as Freaks and Geeks, In Flight, Love You Dude, A Little Pregnant, and his role on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. I got into How I Met Your Mother due to the fact that the producers have long been fans of the series Freaks and Geeks. He wrote the script for the movie "In Flight", according to Siegel, several episodes of the film are taken from his personal experience, including parting in the nude. Disney has invited Jason and Nicholas Stoller to write a new Muppet movie. Siegel has loved muppets since childhood and is extremely excited about the opportunity to work on a film. Jason Siegel's character in Airplane Flight wrote the Muppet Musical Dracula .
