Born and raised in Pemberton, New Jersey. Studied at Houston College. At the age of 21 he moved to New York, where he took acting classes from Stella Adler, and then entered the New York Film Academy.

In 1984 he made his television debut in Trapper John (MD), under his mother's maiden name Weston. This was followed by roles in one of the episodes of "Private Detective Magnum" (1984), in the action movie "American Ninja 2: Fight" (1987), the adventure film "Alien from Los Angeles" (1988), the western "Trail Tracker" (1988) ) and in the film adaptation of the work of the same name by Jules Verne "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1989).

In the early 90s, he starred in several well-known horror films - Puppet Master 2 (1990) and Demon Toys (1992), as well as in the parody Silence of the Ham (1994). In 1994 he directed the short film "Dickwad" from his own script. In 1995 he became the director of the comedy "Under the Hawaiian Moon", in the credits indicated under his real name Celentano. It stars Stephen Baldwin, Emily Lloyd and Chris Penn.

The most famous directorial work is the action movie "Moscow Heat" (2004) with Alexander Nevsky in the title role. The film received low-key reviews from critics in the United States, while in Russia most reviews were negative.

Since 1988 he has been married to the actress Musetta Vander.
