Korean film director, screenwriter, producer. Born October 1, 1922. One of the classics who shaped the cinema of the Republic of Korea. Known for poignant psychological melodramas exploring various types of female characters, often on the verge of any sexual divisions, for which his films were sometimes called "misogynistic thrillers" by critics.
He died on February 5, 1998.
