Eric James McCormack (born April 18, 1963, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian-American film and television actor.
Born in Toronto, he began his acting career with performances in school plays. Graduated from Ryerson University (English) Russian. in 1985, McCormack took part in the Stratford Shakespeare Festivals, where he played in numerous plays for five years.
For much of the early 1990s, McCormack lived in Los Angeles and received minor roles in a variety of television projects. His film debut took place in 1992 in The Lost World. However, the actor's popularity came only in the late 1990s, when McCormack got the lead role in the comedy series Will and Grace, which premiered in September 1998. McCormack played the role of Will Truman, a lawyer, and also an open homosexual. For good acting, Eric was nominated for five Golden Globes and won an Emmy in 2001 in the category Best Actor in a Comedy Series .
In addition to filming television, McCormack made his Broadway debut in 2001 in The Music Man. Following the final episodes of the sitcom Will and Grace in 2006, McCormack played the lead role in the New York production of Some Girl (s). He also starred in the mini-series The Strain Andromeda (2008) and starred in the drama series Trust Me. (2009), which was canceled after the first season.
