The son of horse breeders, Canet spent his childhood in the countryside near Paris. In his youth, Guillaume wanted to become a jockey, but it did not work out: he fell from his horse and was injured, which put an end to further training. He graduated from the acting courses of Francois Florent. In 1994 he made his debut at the Eberto Theater. His role is naive young people, romantic and inexperienced in love relationships. In 2006, he directed the detective story Don't Tell Anyone, which was a great success with critics and the public.
