Mathieu Amalric was born on October 25, 1965 in the French city of Neuilly-sur-Seine. His father worked as an editor for the Liberation newspaper, and his mother was a literary critic.
As a teenager, he starred in his first film "Favorites of the Moon", family friend Otar Ioseliani insisted on his participation in the film. I tried unsuccessfully to enter the film school, but did not leave the thought of taking up directing. Accidentally got the position of assistant from producer Palo Branco, sometimes starred in episodic roles. In the early 90s, he shoots short films, and after his success at the Cannes Film Festival, he becomes a famous French actor.
