Takeshi Kitano was born in January 1947 in Tokyo. His father was a simple painter, and the future actor and director became the fourth child in the family. At school, he showed excellent academic performance, at the insistence of his mother he moved to a more prestigious educational institution, after graduation from which it will become somewhat easier to get a higher education. As a teenager, he played baseball, boxing and rakugo. As planned by the Kitano family, he enters the University of Engineering. Takeshi Kitano's first full-length film is the war drama Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, in which he co-starred. This was followed by the crime drama Demon, and after Takeshi began acting in his own films. He made his directorial debut in 1989 on the set of the action movie Police Brutal, in which he plays the main character. The film was a success and the direction came to his liking, so he continued to create films. Among the most successful are the following: dramas Scenes by the Sea and Boys Return, the action movie Sonatina, the thriller Fireworks, the comedic Kukijiro and the crime Yakuza Brother. In almost all of his films, Takishi starred himself.
At the moment, the last film with Takeshi Kitano - a crime comedy by Ryuzo and his seven companions - was released in 2015, according to the established tradition, the actor himself became its director.
