Sandra McCoy was born on August 14, 1979 in San Jose, USA, to the Filipino-Irish family of Madeline McCoy, a high school teacher, tennis coach and aerobics teacher, and Gary McCoy, director of database management for the County Sheriff's Department and amateur pilot. In 1993, her brother and parents died in a plane crash, leaving a fourteen-year-old girl an orphan.
Sandra Macoy studied dance and gymnastics, was a member of the football support team at the Independence High School.
