Born September 24, 1950, London, UK) is a British actress.

Harriet Walter is the niece of the famous British actor Christopher Lee. She is the daughter of his older sister Xandra. On her father's side, she is the distant great-granddaughter of John Walter, founder of The Times. Walter was educated at Cranbourne Chase Girls' School. After completing her studies at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, she worked for the Joint Stock Theater Company, Paines Plow and Duke's Playhouse in Lancaster. Actor Peter Blythe was her partner until his death in 2004. On May 21, 2011, Walter married American actor Guy Schuessler, whose stage name is Guy Paul.
