December 27, 1969, Rochester, New York, USA - April 20, 2016, Redondo Beach, California, USA, real name: Joanne Marie Laurer is an American female wrestler, model, pornographic actress and bodybuilder.
Chyna first rose to prominence during her debut at the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1997, where she performed under the stage name Chyna (a deliberately ironic nickname; it can be translated as "Porcelain" - a delicate and fragile material that contrasts with her character ) and was declared "The Ninth Wonder of the World" (Andre the Giant was already declared the Eighth). As a member of the D-Generation X faction, she won the WWE Intercontinental Championship (the first and only female wrestler to do so) and the WWF female title, and was also the first female wrestler to appear on the "Battle Royale" and "King of the Ring" ... After leaving WWF in 2001, Chyna performed irregularly, most notably in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2002 and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2011.
Outside of wrestling, Chyna has appeared in Playboy magazine twice, as well as in numerous television shows and films. In 2005, Laurer starred in a VH1 reality show called The Surreal Life, which led to a number of other reality shows featuring celebrities, including The Surreal Life: Fame Game in 2007 and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. ... Drew in 2008.
Laurer's career in pornography began in 2004 when she approached Red Light District Video to distribute her home videos with fellow wrestler Sean Waltman. It was released in 2004 and titled 1 Night in China. In 2012, Lorer terminated her contract with Vivid Entertainment.
From January 2012 to June 2015, Lorer lived in Japan, where she taught English.
