Born September 1 (13), 1898 in Kiev.
Soviet actor, screenwriter and director. One of the best circus directors of the Soviet period.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (23.10.1963) .
In 1907 he began his stage activity in the Jewish children's troupe of entrepreneur Gorin, then played for N. N. Solovtsov in Kiev and in other drama theaters. Since 1921 - director of circus, theater, stage and cinema. In 1943-1955 he was the chief director of the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Since 1956 - Artistic Director of the Central Studio of Circus Art.
Staged performances in Moscow, Leningrad and many other circuses. He was a director and member of the 4 Foley dance quartet (1919). Author and director of the pantomime "Marietta and the Clown Pipo" at the Kiev Circus (1922). He starred in an episode in the movie "Funny Guys" .
Among the works: "The Fourteenth Year" (1931), "Epron" (1933), the reviews "City Fathers" by A. Bukhov and A. D'Aktila (1932), "The Bride and the Machine" by M. Frolov and I. Efremov (1934 ) - both in the Leningrad Music Hall; pantomime "Black Pirate" (1934, Leningrad Circus, together with E. Gershuni); variety program "Music Store" by N. Erdman and V. Massa (1938, Moscow Music Hall, together with L. Utesov); circus performance "Arena of Friendship" (1955, together with M. Mestechkin); ballet and circus performance on ice "Winter Fantasy" (1959, together with L. Lavrovsky), review "The Mysterious Crystal" by I. Lukovsky (1960, Swimming pool of the Central Stadium in Luzhniki in Moscow); the play "Circus on Ice" (1964, together with N. Erdman); circus program with an illusion attraction by Z. Tarasova (1963, Central Park of Culture and Rest named after M. The creative collaboration with the illusionist E.T. Kio. Staged illusion sketches: "House on the outskirts of Paris", "Head from Wall Street", "Angel of Peace", "Speech of the warmonger (Dulles - the warmonger)". Later Arnold directed programs for the sons of E.T. Kio of Igor and Emil, finding a stage image and style for everyone.
He died on June 19, 1969 in Moscow. He was buried in the columbarium of the Novodevichy cemetery.
