Born on 28 August 1929. Studied at the Moscow City Theater School (master - Vladimir Vasilyevich Gotovtsev). As a student, he took part in the play "Young Guard", staged at the theater of the film actor Sergei Gerasimov. He played the role of Tolya Orlov. One of the screenings was attended by an assistant director K. Yudin, who selected the actors for the film "Brave People", Balandina. It was she who led the aspiring actor to the venerable director. And the venerable director, without thinking twice, approved Potocki for the role of Kolya Devyatkin, feeling for him a remarkable talent, as it turned out - in another area ... During the filming, the aspiring actor did not tire of delighting the creators with extraordinary reflections on their work. Once he came to Yudin, whom all the actors called Kin Kinich behind his back, and said that he was completely dissatisfied with the script. Yudin gathered a council of himself and the scriptwriters Erdman and Volpin. Potocki explained to them that the indestructibility of positive characters turns the film into an American Western, so he proposes to add drama to the story and kill his character in the middle of the film. The masters smiled amicably at the assertiveness of the young talent, but after a couple of days they rewrote the script. Kolya Devyatkin was killed. Flying away from the set, the young actor waved his cap and said goodbye: - I'm leaving this gang! He seemed to leave for the theater ... But it turned out that for participating in the film he had already been expelled from the theater school. The actor began to look for himself. He worked in the Regional Drama Theater of Ulyanovsk, in the Omsk Youth Theater ... From that time on, he became extremely interested in the role of Cyrano de Bergerac. Someone tried to adapt the play to him, but it was difficult to satisfy Pototsky's life task. The first version of the play turned out to be very weak in Oleg's opinion and ended as soon as it began. Pototsky left for Tula, invited to the play about the hero of the Great Patriotic War Sasha Chekalin. The main role. The play did not run. Oleg undertook to rewrite the play himself. I met the father of the hero, who at that time was engaged in beekeeping, with his mother, who was the director of the Science and Knowledge cinema, talked and wrote a play. The theater accepted and staged the play in Potocki's version. Tula was delighted. At the peak of the performance, Yuri Fridman arrived in Tula from Moscow, invited to stage the New Year's performance. Pototsky played the role of Kashchei the Immortal. Fridman was so fascinated by the provincial actor that he left for Moscow, inviting a young talent to the Moscow Regional Youth Theater. It was at the MOYUZ that Pottsky got acquainted with the translation of Cyrano by Yuri Eichenwald. However, it did not work out to stage "Cyrano" in Eichenwald's version ... There was an interesting "Prince Igor", but the main dream did not come true. They offered to realize the dream in Chelyabinsk. The play was staged, but Pototsky never got what he wanted. The director, in his opinion, was uncontrollable and did not understand Cyrano's pathos too much. It ended with Potocki leaving for Pavlodar under the promise of the local director that he would stage the play about Cyrano himself. Oleg Iosifovich could not but agree to this. The dream of his life came true - he himself staged a play about Cyrano with himself in the lead role. Now is the time to move on to poetry. Pototsky left the traditional theater, created another. Poetic theater "Poetograd" .
Member of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation, author of six collections of poetry.
He passed away on February 5, 2009. The urn with the ashes was buried in the 26th section of the columbarium of the Vostryakovsky cemetery.
