Alexander Muratov (II) - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Director, Writer, Actor.

Born April 21, 1935, Kharkov, USSR - Soviet and Ukrainian film director and screenwriter. Laureate of the TG Shevchenko All-Ukrainian Foundation for a significant contribution to the development of cinematography in Ukraine.

In his senior school age he was, according to him, a liaison of the UPA for some time, then fled to Kazakhstan, and from there came to study in Moscow.

Graduated from the directing department of VGIK (1959). He worked at the M. Gorky Central Children's Art School, Odessa Film Studio, since 1967 - at the A. P. Dovzhenko Kiev Film Studio.

In 1962-1968 - director of the Odessa Film Studio. In 1964, together with his first wife, director KG Muratova made the film Our Honest Bread. In 1966 he shot the first independent picture "Evdokia Pavlovna". Since 1968, director of the Kiev Film Studio named after A. Dovzhenko. Shoots in feature films and documentaries, author and co-author of scripts for a number of his films.

1982 - the film "Races Vertical", written by the Weiner brothers.

In 1991-1996, based on the works of M. Khvylovy, A. Muratov shot a trilogy: "Tango of Death" (based on the work "The Tale of the Sanatorium Zone"), "Down with Shame" (based on the story "A Sentimental Story"), "Woodcocks" (after novel of the same name). The entire trilogy received the award of the All-Ukrainian Cultural and Scientific Foundation of T. G. Shevchenko "For an outstanding contribution to the national and state revival of Ukraine."

The first Chechen war found Muratov in Chechnya, where he collected materials for a film about the deportation of the Chechen people. According to him, he voluntarily offered his services to the authorities of Ichkeria and shot propaganda films for them. After being wounded, he returned to Kiev.

In 2004 - the film "Tatar Triptych" (based on the Crimean Tatar novels by M. Kotsyubinsky) was released, then in 2005 - the autobiographical novel "The Opened Gate".
