Born November 1, 1971 in Samara, Russia - Russian figure skater and actor. Honored Master of Sports, world and European champion in figure skating, paired with Maria Petrova.
He started figure skating at the age of 5. At 14 he switched to pair skating and in 1987 moved to train in Sverdlovsk with Ardo and Yulia Rennikov. For two years, together with Irina Sayfutdinova, he won a bronze medal at the 1989 World Junior Championships.
A year later, Tikhonov began to train at the Stanislav Zhuk school with coach Vladimir Zakharov. In 1994, he received an invitation from Tatyana Tarasova to skate in her All Stars ice theater together with Inna Valyanskaya, where he subsequently worked for three years.
In 1998, Lyudmila Velikova created a pair of Maria Petrova-Alexey Tikhonov. In the fall of the same year, they won their first gold medal at the German Grand Prix. Seven months later, the skaters won the title of European champions, and in 2000 they became world champions. In 2006, the star couple won the Grand Prix stage in Paris, and in November Maria and Alexey became the second at the stage of the Russian Cup Grand Prix series.
