Was born in 1955 in the capital of Scotland - Edinburgh. His father was a teacher and educational administrator. During the three years of his youth, he joined a group called Keyhole, whose members later left to form Bay City Rollers. After attending the Mountview Academy of Theater Arts in London, Scott began working in theater for the Royal Shakespeare Company, but for several years his performance fees were very low and he had to work as a double-layer glazer salesman.
