Born on March 2, 1945, Kharkov, USSR (Ukraine) - Soviet footballer, striker and actor.

After the war, the family moved to Kamensk-Uralsky. After a radiation accident occurred at the Mayak chemical plant in September 1957, the family returned to Ukraine.

While still a schoolboy, he played for Avangard (Sumy). After leaving school, he received an invitation to the Kharkov Avangard, where he played until 1965.

In the spring of 1966 at the training camp he was noticed by the coaches of the Leningrad “Zenith”, received an invitation to the team. In 1966 he played for the reserve team of the club, for the main team he played 5 matches in class A. The next year he received a serious injury - a muscle tear, intended to return to Kharkov, but remained in Leningrad, because his wife Natalya Orlova began to serve in the theater named after V. F. Komissarzhevskaya.

Played for Dynamo Leningrad.

At the age of 25, he was forced to end his sports career as a football player for health reasons (herniated disc).

At the age of 17 he entered the Kharkov Radio Engineering Institute, specializing in radio equipment designer. After studying for three months, he transferred to Kharkov State University at the Faculty of History. Having become a player of the Leningrad "Zenith", he transferred to the Leningrad University at the Faculty of Journalism. Later he recovered at Kharkiv University in the correspondence department.

Studied stage speech at the Institute of Theater Arts and Cinematography.

Since 2005, he has been the head of the department of theory and methodology of football at the coaching faculty at the PF Lesgaft University of Physical Culture.

In 2006, at the PF Lesgaft University of Physical Culture, he defended his thesis on the topic "Formation of the mobilization readiness of highly qualified football players for the competition", was awarded the degree of candidate of pedagogical sciences.

While playing for Dynamo Leningrad, he was published in the Smena newspaper. After completing his football career, he became a correspondent for the Stroitelny Rabochiy newspaper.

Currently the President of the St. Petersburg Sports Press Association.

In 1973, after the death of the famous Leningrad commentator Viktor Sergeevich Nabutov, a competition was announced on television to fill the vacant position, which was won by Gennady Orlov.

Has worked as a commentator at various sporting events: the World and European Football Championships, the Olympic Games.
