Gary Halvorson - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Director, Producer.
American director and producer of television shows, serials and films.
Graduate of the Juilliard School. He started out as a classical pianist, but later noted as a director of comedy series such as Friends (directed 56 episodes) and Drew Carey Show. He also directed his film The Adventures of Elmo (1999) (children's film) .
For the New York Opera Company, Metropolitan Opera, he directed the following operas in high definition: The Magic Flute (December 30, 2006), The Puritans (January 6, 2007), The Barber of Seville (March 24, 2007), Il Tabarro (April 28, 2007), Romeo and Juliet (December 15, 2007), Macbeth (January 11, 2008), Peter Grimes (March 15, 2008), La Boheme (April 5, 2008), Daughter of the Regiment (August 26, 2008) (starring Renee Fleming) (September 22, 2008), Dr. Atomic (November 8, 2008), Thais (December 20, 2008), Lucia di Lammermoor (February 7, 2009), Madame Butterfly (March 7, 2009), Cinderella (May 9, 2009), Tosca (October 10, 2009), Aida (October 23 2008), Turandot (November 7, 2009), Hoffmann's Tales (December 19, 2009), Carmen (January 16, 2010), Armida (May 1, 2010), Rhine Gold (October 9, 2010), Don Pasquale (November 13, 2010) and Don Carlos (Dec 11, 2010) .
Halvorson also directed Paul Simon's "You're The One" live concert in Paris, which aired on PBS and was released on DVD.
