Born January 6, 1946, Shanghai, China is a Hong Kong, Chinese and American film actress and producer.
Moved to Hong Kong at the age of 14. After graduating from secondary education and having 6 years of ballet school behind him, Peipei in the early 1960s took a job at the Shaw Brothers studio open youth acting courses (which also began the careers of such actresses as Fang Yin and Li Jing).
Cheng Peipei made her acting debut in 1963 when she played the male role of the scribe Liu Yanchang (originally intended by Ivy Ling Po, who eventually provided the voice for the role) in the huangmei film "Lamp of the Sacred Lotus," starring Lin Dai in two main roles.
During her work at the studio (until 1971), Cheng Peipei made more than 20 films, mainly of the wuxia genre. In addition, during this period, the actress, using her dance training, successfully starred in several musicals.
In 1970, the actress married and, after filming The Hermit, left the Shaw Brothers studio and moved to the United States, briefly returning to Hong Kong in 1973 to shoot two films with the Golden Harvest studio.
During their marriage, which ended in divorce in 1987, Cheng Peipei became the mother of four. Her two daughters, Eugenia Yuan and Marsha Yuan, who began their careers in artistic gymnastics and modeling, later also become famous actresses.
Cheng Peipei returned to Hong Kong in 1992, and has continued to actively appear in film, television and television series in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan since then.
