began his acting career in the Broadway musical Hair, directed by Chicago Production, and in the Broadway production of The Me Nobody Knows. His latest Broadway show, Via Galactica, was directed by Sir Peter Hall.
Before becoming an actor, Stan Shaw worked in Chicago as a karate, judo and jujitsu instructor, having a first dan (black belt in judo and jujitsu, as well as a second dan in karate.
Movie fame The show brought her role in the movie Rocky (1976). He later also played professional fighters in Tough Enough (1983), Harlem Nights (1989), and Eyes of the Serpent (1998). One of his most notable roles was in the 1979 television miniseries Roots: The Next Generations as Will Palmer, Alex Haley's maternal grandfather.
