Born February 19, 1958, Morley, West Yorkshire - English writer.
She was the second child of four to a mill manager and a housewife. She graduated from Oxford University, where she studied English language and literature at St. Anne's College. For ten years she worked in television, at the BBC studio, was a TV producer, then worked as a journalist for a newspaper. At the same time, Fielding began to try her hand at "big" literature, but the love story she proposed was rejected by the publishing house "Mills & Boon" .
Her first book, the satirical novel The Reason for Success, was published in 1994. The book is based on the experience gained by the author during the filming of documentaries in Africa. Helen Fielding became widely known for the novel The Diary of Bridget Jones, published in 1998 and born out of a column she wrote for The Independent. The book's resounding success was followed by a sequel - "Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason" (1999), and then a new book, about the adventures of the new heroine Helen Fielding, was released - "Olivia Joules, or Ardent Imagination" (2003) .
Based on her books, two films were made - "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason", the plot of which was adapted by Richard Curtis. In 2013, the continuation of the story "Bridget Jones is crazy about the boy" was published, and in 2014 it was translated into Russian. In October 2015, the shooting of the third film about Bridget Jones began.
