April 1, 1875 - February 10, 1932 - English writer, playwright, screenwriter, journalist. Better known as Edgar Wallace. Author of 175 short stories, 24 plays and a huge number of articles in periodicals. The founder of the literary genre "thriller". More than 160 films have been created based on his works. Born in Greenwich (London) into an acting family, and his father did not even know about his existence. Edgar Wallace worked as a correspondent for Reuters and the London Daily Mail. The writer died in Hollywood while working on the script for the movie "King Kong".
