August 4, 1910 - September 6, 2008 nee Anita Pomares is an American actress who achieved popularity during the last years of the silent film era.
She began her career in 1924. She got her first leading role in the film Our Dancing Daughters. She starred in films with Joan Crawford and Buster Keaton. She performed the main female role in the first sound musical film in the history of cinema - "Broadway Melody", which received an Oscar. After marriage, she completed her film career, but after several decades she again appeared on the screen. Anita, who died in 2008, was the last of the most widely known living silent film stars, with the exception of childhood silent film actors such as Mickey Rooney, Baby Peggy, and Mary Osborne. Several lesser-known silent film stars such as Barbara Kent did survive Anita Page.
